Vegan Shamrock Shake

I have concluded that the best part about being an adult is being able to make the decision that YES--this morning I am having dessert for breakfast! Sure, there are other perks as well, but right now, this is my favorite.

With St. Patrick's Day drawing near, it also means that Shamrock Shake season is nearly upon us. And there is no way around it, those dang things are DELICIOUS!

This morning I decided to try and make my own, mostly to see if I could, but also because I've been feeling a little left out in the dessert department since the major change to my diet.

All I can say is WOW. I'm not generally all that surprised when I try out a recipe and it actually works, but this time around, I'm pretty impressed. My shake this morning was soooo good. It was just like having a shake from McDonald's, without the fear of feeling not so hot after eating it. This is definitely a dessert I will be sure to constantly have the ingredients on hand for so I can whip one up at a moments notice.

Vegan Mint (a.k.a. Shamrock) Shake
Ingredients*
Serves 1
  • 1/2 cup Soy Delicious Vanilla Frozen Dessert
  • 1/2 cup Vanilla Almond Milk
  • Mint Extract to taste
  • 2-3 drops Green Food coloring
Put ingredients in a cup and use hand blender to combine. Serve and enjoy!

*I have a confession, I'm not exactly sure how accurate the measurements are for the almond milk. The almond milk to "ice cream" ratio is really personal preference depending on how thick you want your shake.

  1. Iowa Girl Eats had a version of this too. So much healthier. I need to make one. Maybe next weekend :)
